Auckland Zoo

What an incredible at Auckland Zoo. This was a great opportunity to see what you  have been learning at school and how Auckland Zoo is doing their part. The keepers were blown away with the information we shared with them and our understanding. WELL DONE TEAM

We learned heaps about tracking 'pests and pals' and what can be done to help these pests and pals. We worked out if we were ape or human and how to work out the differences - with some very interesting results!

What did you LOVE about today? What did you LEARN? What did it make you THINK about?

"Today we are exploring the Zoo. We have been looking at all the endangered animals but we have also been looking at other animals. We have been also looking at the native New Zealand animals and it was really cool." Morgan

An earthquake is when the ground shakes because rocks deep under the ground are moving. When a big earthquake happens there may be a loud rumbling noise and things can start falling down around you. It might also be hard to stand up. You have to act quickly and protect yourself from things that might fall on you.
Remember how a turtle quickly gets into its shell to keep safe? Here’s what you can do:If you are in an earthquake in New Zealand, Drop, Cover and Hold is the right action to take.
▪ If you are inside a building, move no more than a few steps, then Drop, Cover and Hold to protect yourself from falling objects. Stay indoors till the shaking stops and you are sure it is safe to exit. In most buildings in New Zealand you are safer if you stay where you are until the shaking stops.
▪ If you are outside, move away from buildings, trees, streetlights, and power lines, then Drop, Cover and Hold. Stay there until the shaking stops.
